Tips To Help You Pick Your Home Video Security System

Posted on 03:36 by Unknown

There are several types of home video security system. There are wired video surveillance systems, wireless, VCR system and IP-based systems. Wired systems can be connected to other security devices like VCR.

Wireless systems need televisions or computers to detect and start recording. The IP-based or web-based systems require the use of internet for recording and streaming. Whatever video security system you may choose for your home, you may need similar equipment.

For your security surveillance to start working, you may need surveillance cameras, recording or playback device, monitor and motion detector. Of course, cameras are for recording events and activities, the images captured are sent to the playback device for recording, and the monitor provides images to you or to the one in charge with the home video security.

High-end security cameras are equipped with infrared sensors to enable the system to see at night. However, their price is also high-end. If you prefer to use non-sensor cameras, you may need to install outdoor lighting so the security cameras can still capture images.

The installation of security system has two approaches-the covert and overt. In covert systems, the security cameras are hidden. In most cases, this system works for monitoring the activities of housekeepers, nannies and anyone who is on your home property.

Overt, on the other hand, have the surveillance cameras installed in conspicuous places. This works effectively for thieves as they would be too hesitant to rob the place due to the presence of home video security system.

Some wireless home video security may need to configure with a specific television channel for streaming. There is also the type that is plug-and-play, or wireless networks to communicate with computers.

IP-based system may need a specific IP camera. You should consider few factors for your IP cameras. Determine the distance and the width of the area you want covered for surveillance because that shall be the basis for knowing the right lens. The higher the focal length in millimeter, the smaller will be the field of view. You will also get more magnification.

The sensitivity of the camera should be considered as well. If you want to do security surveillance even at night, you may want to select low-light camera for home video security. The ‘lux’ rating determines how well a camera can see in dim light.

Auto-iris lens can adjust to the light in case you want to install the IP security cameras in a wide range of lighting conditions such as the outdoor. Also, the surveillance cameras come in digital PTZ or mechanical PTZ. PTZ stands for Pan Tilt Zoom.

Now, sometimes, there are fast-moving objects and you may want to catch its motion and speed. For this purpose, your home video security camera requires high frame rate. However, if you want a camera for general surveillance, a 1 or 2 frames per second is ideal.

Installing a home video security system can reduce the likelihood of break-ins. If indeed, a break-in happened, there are high chances of catching the culprit. Safety is the primary intent for getting video surveillance. It simply reduces crime.

Home Video Surveillance Offers Many Benefits For Home Security

Are you thinking about getting home video surveillance to help keep your family safe from danger, but can't decide if this is the correct option? There are many benefits that video surveillance will provide your family.

You need to know what these benefits are so you can make up your mind about whether or not video surveillance is the answer to your family's best security. The following are the benefits to keep in mind as you make your decision.

1. Lets you see what is happening without putting your family in danger - When you have security cameras placed around your home, inside and out, you will be able to find out what the danger is before it reaches your family.

This will give you time to get the family to a safer place and for you to call for help with the authorities. This can literally save your family's lives, especially if an intruder means your family harm.

2. Good for deterring burglars - Did you know that most burglars will look for security cameras and if they are spotted, they will move on to a home without these security measures in place? Many people don't realize that security cameras are one of the best burglar deterrents there is, next to a security system for the home.

The reason these cameras are so good for deterring burglars is because it offers them way to high of a risk for being caught, especially when they can be caught in the act on video. This means that they have a very high chance of being apprehended at a later date, if they are not caught right away.

Most burglars don't want to take that risk and will move on to an easier target without all the risk of them being caught.

3. Easily secures every vulnerable area of your house - Were you aware that any home has more than one vulnerable area that a burglar can use to get in? Most people don't realize this until they have taken time to check this out for themselves, usually when trying to find the right security system.

If you are not able to secure all of the areas in and around your home that are vulnerable, then you will not be offering your family's the best security possible. With video surveillance, you can ensure that all unsecured areas are secured to keep anyone out that you don't want there.

These are the benefits that your family will receive from having home video surveillance. You are the only one that can decide if these benefits make this the best solution for your family's security, so be sure you make your decision with confidence.
